Edythe L. Bronston
is a 1980 graduate of Loyola Law School of Los Angeles, with honors, after having served for many years in a leadership role with the League of Women Voters. She has focused her practice in the
area of receiverships, debtor/creditor relations, and fraud
litigation as set forth below. After a lengthy partnership in Cox, Castle & Nicholson, one of the premier California real estate firms, she opened her own practice in 1995.
Receiverships. Edythe L. Bronston is prominent in the
receivership community throughout the State of California, both as a
court-appointed receiver and an attorney representing receivers, as well as an attorney representing creditors wishing to obtain a
receiver. A receiver is a neutral person who takes possession of
property on behalf of the Court, operating that property to maintain the status quo and preserve the value until pending disputes are resolved. As Receiver, Ms. Bronston has operated businesses,
completed construction, sold assets,
managed residential and commercial real properties, and generally performed to preserve troubled properties and businesses during the pendency of litigation. She is well respected and recognized
statewide as a leader in this field, having served as Co-Chair of the Los Angeles/Orange County Receivers Forum and having co-founded the statewide California Receivers Forum,
of which she is 2004/2005 Chair. She is frequently appointed
as a Receiver and Provisional Director, sua sponte by the Court. She generally operates as her own counsel and is backed by an experienced administrative staff, leading to efficiency and
cost-effectiveness.
Bankruptcy. Ms. Bronston is also active in business reorganizations and Chapter 7 business filings in Bankruptcy Court, both on the debtor and creditor side.
As such, she has assisted both secured and unsecured creditors in active participation in the formation of plans of reorganization and has guided businesses to successful reorganization. She is a
Director and Past President of the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum and a Founding Director
and Past President of
the California Bankruptcy Forum and lectures and writes frequently on all aspects of debtor/creditor relations.
Provisional Remedies. Ms. Bronston is a recognized leader in the field of provisional remedies, representing both debtors and creditors in obtaining or defending attachments, temporary restraining orders, preliminary
injunctions, writs of execution and receiverships. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Provisional and Post-Judgment Remedies section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association since 1985,
and is a past President of that organization.
Provisional Director. Ms. Bronston has acted as a Court-appointed Provisional Director in corporate disputes which have resulted in deadlock. As such, she has been the swing vote on Boards of Directors, bringing to a
successful culmination the sale of several businesses.
Grantor Trustee and Disbursing Agent. Ms. Bronston has acted as a Court-appointed Grantor Trustee and Disbursing Agent for various entities, taking possession of assets for trust
beneficiaries. As such, she has managed real properties and sold properties to the benefit of all beneficiaries and creditors.
Mediator. Ms. Bronston is a certified mediator and is
much sought after as one of the original members of the mediation
panel of the United States Bankruptcy Court, Central District of
California. In 2003, she was honored as having settled the most
cases in the Central District. |
